Drug shortages will continue to create roadblocks for medication prescribing and patient safety.

2017 brought us almost 150 new drug shortages...IV fluids, injectable antibiotics, electrolytes, opioids, blood pressure meds, etc.

A number of things are to blame...hurricane damage to Puerto Rican manufacturing plants, recalls due to contamination, increased demands for alternative meds leading to their short supply, etc.
